PDA Training for Parents and Professionals


Side by Side PDA Training aims to improve the understanding of PDA of parents, teachers or other professionals living or working with children or young people who either have a diagnosis or suspected diagnosis of PDA. The training is written and delivered by Karen Whichello, an experienced trainer and mother of a teenager with PDA. She formerly worked in a specialist autism school supporting children in the classroom with PDA and other behaviour difficulties.

The training is delivered in a full day course and covers the following key areas:
  • Understanding PDA and the diagnostic criteria
  • How PDA differs from other Autism Spectrum Conditions
  • How emotional intelligence can be taught to reduce anxiety
  • Effective communication enabling co-operation and overcoming behaviour difficulties
  • Strategies to improve learning outcomes both at home and at school
