PDA for Parents/Carers living in Sussex run over two online Zoom sessions, Wednesday 1st and 8th September 2021 (10.00am-12.30pm)

About this event

The PDA Society is pleased to offer an online PDA for Parent/Carers course specifically for families living within Sussex and the surrounding borders that will be delivered by one of our facilitators who is also a local resident. As well as sharing insights on PDA we hope the course will offer an opportunity for local families to meet, connect together and then support each together after the course has finished.

The sessions have been written specifically for parents and carers of children up to age 18yrs. Families with young people aged 18yrs+ are very welcome to join the course but unfortunately due to time constraints we’ll be unable to cover more specific adult approaches and ideas on this occasion. Each session will be packed with information but is not designed as an interactive workshop, although opportunities for discussion and questions will be available.

During the course we will discuss: ‘What is PDA?’, consider what demands are, and their effects, then explore how to help using a variety of different approaches. We’ll also take a look at siblings, diagnosis and education.

We would ask that all delegates watch our Introductory Webinar (23mins) prior to attending the first session, in order that participants start from the same foundation of knowledge that will be built upon during the course: Introduction to PDA.

Please note that this course is being run over two sessions via Zoom on the 1st and 8th September, from 10:00am to 12.30pm. On week 2, following the completion of the course, we’d also like to invite delegates from the local community to stay online for an additional 30 mins, until 1pm, so there is an opportunity to meet, chat and swap contact details with anyone who may wish to keep in touch after the course. When booking please ensure that you can attend both sessions as refunds or transfers to another date will not be possible after the course has started.

Cost of course: £20 (excluding Eventbrite fees), payable in advance. Limited places are available so please do book promptly if you’re interested. When booking your ticket please also let us know if you have any additional needs that may require assistance during the sessions, in order that we can discuss arrangements in advance. Thank you.

After booking, please remember to check your e-mail (messages may be forwarded to your spam/junk folder) for a confirmation receipt from Eventbrite sharing a link for pre-registration. Eventbrite will also send at least two reminders prior to the course taking place.

We recommend that you join the session 5-10min prior to the course starting to ensure your equipment is working correctly as we will be unable to delay the start. To ensure delegate confidentiality no recordings are made; this is run as a ‘live’ event only.

Please note that The PDA Society run separate training events for Parents/Carers outside of Sussex, and for professionals working within education, health or social care.

If you have any questions about this course, or any other programmes that we offer, please e-mail our training team: training@pdasociety.org.uk
