I have worked with autistic children, young people and adults for 13 years. I have worked in schools (mainstream, specialist and alternative provisions). I have an autistic son (age 22). I own and run an autism and ADHD assessment service https://www.autismassessmentsfarnham.co.uk/ and have frequently supported demand avoidance during autism assessments by delivering flexible assessments.
What experience does this organisation or team have of working with PDAers/ people who struggle with demands:
I have supported individuals to access EHCP assessments in school / home / my clinic for the past 11 years. I listen closely to parents / carers as to how best to support each individual.
How does this organisation keep their knowledge up to date:
I attend training, read papers and books on PDA, discuss cases in peer or 1:1 supervision. I run an MDT Autism and ADHD assessment service with Clinical Psychologists and Neurodevelopmental Paediatricians where we regularly discuss cases.
