NEW PDA Society Survey - closing date: Sat 3rd March

As you may already have seen, The PDA Society is conducting a survey about experiences of life and support for those with the PDA profile of ASD. We’d be most grateful if you could take a few minutes to complete this yourself and also share details of the survey as far & wide as possible.

This survey is relevant for all .... individuals with PDA, parents, carers, partners ... and for those that feel PDA is the best ‘fit’ regardless of diagnosis... for those in the UK and overseas ... and for professionals (we’re really keen to have as many clinicians involved as possible so please do forward on the link to anyone who is involved with you or your child)

The Society has already received over 700 responses but we'd like many more. For further information and to complete the survey please go to: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/PDA-Experiences.

Thank you for taking the time to complete and share this survey - your views matter!

  • Done twice over and shared. Will reshare in a while to be sure it's getting attention. When is the closing date on it?

Hi, there isn't an actual closing date at the moment but the initial findings of the Survey will be shared at the Conference on 18th April and the final results will be shared on PDA Action Day 15th May 2018.
  • Great.

    Done x2 .

Shared among others involved in their care .( Not many sadly)

Great idea . It will be really interesting to see the comparisons . Still cringe at the PDA Society’s Clinicians Survey .

It will be fabulous if many other countries respond too . Have asked my friend to ask her Daughter in New Zealand to fill in the Survey .

Sadly if it were redone today, I don't think there would be any improvement. It might be that more clinicians are aware of PDA as a name, but they are so busy saying it's attachment disorder, bad parenting, not ASD, is ODD and that PDA is not in the diagnostic manuals, that the ignorance will be as prevalent and maybe even more ingrained...

That’s brilliant news . My GP bless him is filling the questionntaire in for our family today . Let’s just pray they has been a more positive response from Clinicians this time . Phil Christie and all those doing training , ASD - PDA awareness must be sinking through now .

It is real . We live with it everyday .

  • Something has just occurred to me, PDA Society could have put the links to the two PDA petitions in the survey to encourage more signatures, especially for the diagnosis one which has a pitiful amount.

    Petition: "Commission PDA at CAMHS"

    https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/commission-p-d-a-at-c-a-h-m-s

Petition: "Raise Awareness and Understanding of PDA Among Health Care Professionals"

    https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/202680

If they were put at the end of the survey, it would encourage people to go straight to sign. It's a bit late now probably, but surveys can be amended even when they have signatures on Survey Monkey and it would gain the diagnosis petition more than it has, maybe could be done for the last 8 days of the survey?

Many thanks to everyone who took time to complete the survey which is now closed. Prior to the deadline being announced there were over 1000 responses so really looking forward to hearing the total when the team have had enough time to process everything!

1,000+ responses is brilliant, so pleased and really hope this is put to great use to drive forward recognition of PDA and the difficulties it gives families.
