  • Hi there.
I am new to here just desperate for advice i have an autistic 15 year old boy who is in mainstream school and struggling day to day everyday is a battle getting him to school i believe he is depressed not diagnosed as of yet but at doctors next week he has spoken about killing himself numerous times. He was a high achieving boy but his grades have been declining rapidly and school doesnt do anything. I work full time and a single parent even though his dad is a great support my son is very violent at times especially when starting to get ready for school. Im seriously thinking of giving up work to care for him but not sure where to start. Please if anyone has any advice.

    Hi,
    Welcome to the Forum ,

I am so sorry to hear of your present situation .

    https://www.pdasociety.org.uk/families

There is a mass of information on these links . It explains about PDA , how to obtain a diagnosis , Stratagies , support groups . You must approach your GP to get an urgent referral to CAMHS especially if he is self harming .

There is an Enquiry link posted , if you email that you can speak to someone in Confidence . It’s shocking that the school have done nothing to support you . There is information for teachers too .

Unless the school use the correct Stratagies your sons anxiety will rapidly increase hence the behaviour issues .

I presume you are in England , have you contacted ipsea ?

You can also have an assesment of your needs it’s Law .

Contact Carers UK if you have t done so .
