The PDA Society welcomes the Early Day Motion about PDA submitted by Sir Mike Penning MP and encourages other MPs to show their support - we hope you can help with this by writing to your MP.

This comes after the Department of Health and Social Care has recently updated its letter about PDA (following PDA Action's campaign and importantly removing all reference to ODD (Oppositional Defiance Disorder)), at a time when two high profile PDA cases have been featured in the media and PDA has been formally acknowledged in the new National Guideline for ASD in Australia.

For more information on how you can help please read our latest post:

    Thank you.

I have emailed my MP AND written a letter! Thank you for making the process so easy!
  • Another thank you from myself. Today I have used this letter as a template to my own MP.

I am hopeful that Mr Robert Buckland QC MP for Swindon South, will take note. Not only is he a QC, but is an active campaigner for Special Educational Needs.

This is particular relevant to myself, as after 2 years of battling to get my now 13year old daughter the help she needs and a recognition, of her condition, unfortunately without the early intervention, this weekend, she had to be admitted into a secure mental health facility for her own protection.

My plea is for everyone to right to their MP, don't give up fighting for your children, and lets get early help for future families so others don't have to go through the torment that can happen if we don't get help.

    Many thanks

Thank you for supporting this motion StressedOutDad. I am however very sorry to hear about your daughter's current situation. If you would like to talk about this in more detail with one of our trained enquiry line volunteers you would be most welcome to e-mail us:

  • I've just emailed my MP too - that letter makes it so easy! Have added in some bits about my daughter's needs not being met and the fact she's been out of school for 18 months... Will be interested to see if he replies (long standing Tory MP with double barrel surname so not holding out too much hope!!)
