Help - school placement failed, advice needed

Another specialist school and another failure. I think it’s down to the residential school not embracing and using PDA strategies and the staff not understanding PDA as a condition. They regularly used traditional behavioural methods that only triggered further anxiety causing flight, aggression and verbal abuse. Outside of school son is sociable but limits his time outside as it causes anxiety.

Can anyone suggest schools for a year 6 that will accept a child with pda and who has behaviour that challenges? We’re in the north west but willing to move house if we can access education, whether it be a day school or residential it doesn’t matter.

Is there no-one who can recommend a school in the north west that use the strategies and accept children with PDA?

    Hi Aggie,

I'm sorry to hear about the latest school placement.

May I suggest that you e-mail our enquiry line: info@pdasociety.org.uk as they should be able to help and will have access to more information about schools.

I'm sorry that I'm unable to help you more here.

    Hi Aggie

So sorry to hear that your childs Specialist School placement has failed.
Before I can suggest a way forward I would need to know more about your child and which schools have already been tried etc.

If you don't want to name the schools or give any details of why they failed onhere please use 'Private Message' and I will certainly be able give some advice on Residential Specialist Schools for children with PDA.
