The Code Zone

We run small online coding and game development clubs for children aged 7 to 16, and a self-paced version with no fixed session time at all. Live groups are capped at six children with the same mentor every week, so it stops being a room full of strangers. Nothing is required on cue. Cameras can stay off and typing in the chat is fine, every week rather than just at first. A child can listen and build without speaking at all, take a break whenever they need one, and there is nothing to catch up on afterwards. Ideas are offered rather than set as tasks, and can be picked up, left, or taken somewhere else entirely. If a group is not right we will move a child, and if they would rather stay where they are, they stay. Every mentor is DBS-checked, STEM-certified and trained in supporting neurodivergent children. We hold the National Autistic Society’s Autism Inclusion Award (2025). Around a third of our members are autistic or have ADHD, based on what parents tell us when they join.
