About PDA Day and PDA week of action

PDA Day takes place on the second Wednesday in May. The goal of PDA day is to increase awareness and understanding of PDA and demand avoidance. The week following PDA Day is PDA Action Week, which is an opportunity to get involved and amplify the voices of the PDA community. That might mean sharing information on social media, taking part in new research, or fundraising for PDA Society.

PDA Action Weeks

PDA Action Week 2025: 14th-20th May

This year we’re focusing on how to make it easier to learn about PDA, so that everyone can find the information and support they need to thrive. If you want to join in on social media, we invite you to share something which had an impact on you – whether that’s a resource from our website, a book, or anything else that was meaningful to you. You’re welcome to tag us or use the hashtag #PDA2025.
We’re working on some big things behind the scenes which we can’t wait to share with you.

PDA Action Week 2024

In 2024 we released PDA in Our Words, which highlights the voices of PDA people and their families. The new research shares the profound difficulties PDAers face when their needs aren’t recognised, and the life changing difference it can make when they get the right support.

PDA Action Week 2023

In 2023 we focused on how we can come together as a community to improve understanding, recognition and support for PDAers and their families. We also launched our Being Understood survey which highlighted the lasting impact of PDAers school experience.

PDA Action Week 2022

We launched a consultation survey to understand the PDA community’s views on unanswered questions about PDA. This resulted in a collection of research priorities, so that future research into PDA can be informed by the needs of the PDA community.

PDA Action Week 2021

We gathered examples of best practice from a range of professionals to create new best practice resources and a guidance letter for PDAers on seeking support.
