Volunteer role 1: Expanding our contact list

Helping build our email contact list to support the PDA Society Training and Support services by enabling us to reach more schools, local authorities and professionals.

The PDA Society’s training and support makes a huge difference to the people who access it. At the moment, most people find us by chance — through our website, social media, or personal recommendations. While this has worked well, we know that many more schools, local authorities and commissioners should be aware of our charity and the support we offer, so that more families, teachers and professionals can benefit.

To help widen our reach, we’re building an email contact list of professionals and training leads across key organisations. If you enjoy quiet admin work and the satisfaction of organising information, this could be a perfect fit.

What you’ll be doing

  • Carrying out simple internet searches and completing a spreadsheet with contact details
  • Using a sample email and guidance to help you know what to look for
  • Following clear written instructions
  • Keeping data accurate and consistent
  • Working independently at your own pace

There is no face‑to‑face contact and no time‑sensitive work. It’s steady, flexible admin that you can pick up and put down whenever suits you.

What we provide

  • Written instructions and a spreadsheet to complete
  • Ongoing support from our People and Operations Manager
  • A welcoming, understanding environment — especially if you’re neurodivergent or prefer predictable, structured tasks

 Who this might suit

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Has strong accuracy and attention to detail, including correctly transcribing names, postcodes and other key information
  • Enjoys repetitive or methodical tasks
  • Likes working quietly and independently
  • Wants to contribute to a meaningful cause without pressure
  • Is building confidence, returning to work, or looking for gentle volunteering
  • Appreciates clear instructions and a calm workload

If you are interested in supporting us with this please email hr@pdasociety.org.uk

To keep everyone safe and ensure we meet our GDPR responsibilities, all volunteers must complete a short Volunteer Information Form on Microsoft Forms. We can provide this in different formats if needed to support accessibility.

Some roles involve handling sensitive or personal data (for example, demographic monitoring). For these roles, volunteers will also be asked to sign a short GDPR & Confidentiality Addendum. This addendum explains how to handle information safely and is designed to be clear, proportionate and easy to follow.

If you think you could help with this project, we would love your support — please email Sasha (sasha.butler@pdasociety.org.uk) and we can get you started.
