Team PDA emails for PDA Action Week 2023

Thanks for being a part of Team PDA!

Team PDA emails will act as prompts for things that, if lots of us do them, can make a difference to how PDA people and their families are treated and understood. Not all the actions we suggest will suit everyone – and that’s fine – we are grateful for anything you choose to do for the community whether inspired by our prompts or not.

If you’d like to catch up with the emails we’ve sent so far or download Team PDA graphics to share, here is where you can find them…

If you haven’t already signed up to receive Team PDA emails and would like to, here’s the sign up page.

Welcome email & Team PDA graphics

It would be brilliant if lots of us shared stories over PDA Action Week (10th – 16th May). Find out how your story could inspire change.

26 days to go! Taking on a fundraising challenge

Every year we support thousands of PDA people and those who care about them, often when no one else can. More and more people need our help every day and it’s only because of the incredible community around us, who help us raise vital funds, that we’re able to keep helping.

Is there a fundraising challenge that inspires you?

22 days to go! Making a difference with eBay for Charity

Did you know that you can donate a portion of your eBay sales to the PDA Society? If you’re having a clear out this spring (or any time of year), here’s how you can sell the things you don’t use and donate a portion of your eBay sales to the PDA Society. And buyers can help too! If you’re in the market for unique and interesting items, why not check out those listed on eBay in support of the PDA Society first…

19 days to go! Connecting with others in the PDA community

Connecting with others who you can relate to and vice versa can be a powerful way to feel less alone and it’s a great opportunity to share stories, approaches, and resources with one another that can help. Please let us know any questions or challenges you’d like the community to help with and we’ll anonymously post them on our social media over the coming months, starting in PDA Action Week (10th – 16th May).

16 days to go! Open invitation to our Zoom briefing

On Wednesday 3rd May, one week before PDA Action Week starts, we’re hosting a lunchtime Zoom call which will be open to anyone to come along to, to talk about ways we can raise awareness and take action together. We would love you to join us for this informal and collaborative session. The joining details are in the email below.

2 weeks to go! How regular giving helps

Regular giving is a great way to support households including a PDA person get the information and support they need. Whatever you can afford you’d be amazed at the difference you make over a year. Further details in the email below. Thank you.

12 days to go! DIY PDA Panda ears

Here’s a template for PDA Panda ears that you can make and wear with pride on PDA Day. It would be brilliant if lots of us could share selfies or family/group photos wearing our panda ears on social media on PDA Day (10th May) with the #TeamPDA and #PDADay hashtags.

9 days to go! Amplifying voices through videos

With your help, we’d like to start a new video series that amplifies voices in the PDA community. For PDA Action Week, we’d like to start with the question: ‘What difference did hearing about PDA make to you?’ Details about taking part are included in the email below.

1 week to go! Shining a light on PDA

We’re honoured to have been nominated for a 2023 National Diversity Award in the community organisation category! As a small charity, winning a National Diversity Award would provide us with an incredible opportunity to raise more awareness and it would be a wonderful celebration of the mutual support that the PDA community provides. Please could you help by voting for us?

Welcome to PDA Day 2023!

We’re really pleased to be kick-starting PDA Day & Action Week today, with the launch of our new Being Understood Survey. The survey is open to PDA people (age 17 years or over), and parents, carers and partners of PDA people and will help gather important evidence that can be used to influence positive changes.

We’d be incredibly grateful if you could take part and share this email or the survey link with others you know in the PDA community.

Email template for informing others about PDA

Welcome to Day 2 of PDA Action Week! Today we’re sharing an email template which can be personalised and used to inform the people and professionals in your life about PDA and the approaches that help. We hope this will help everyone to be better understood and supported.

Is your workplace making a difference?

Welcome to Day 3 of PDA Action Week! Today we announced our first official corporate partnership with Safer Sphere. We’re incredibly grateful to Safer Sphere – their help will be transformational in helping us help PDA people this year. And they are working with us because a team member with personal experience suggested us as their charity of the year.

Do you own or work for a company looking for a charity to support? We’d love to speak to you about partnering with the PDA Society. Please contact info@pdasociety.org.uk and see today’s Team PDA email to find our more. Thank you.

We’re here to help!

Today is the midway point of PDA Action Week and we wanted to say a big thank you for your amazing support so far! We also wanted to take this opportunity to share how the PDA Society can help you.

Today’s email contains details about our information, support and training services and links to our key resources. Please feel free to share any of our resources and services with others who might benefit too.

Do autism professionals in your area know what they need to about PDA? Let’s make sure they do

Welcome to Day 5 of PDA Action Week. Today we’re sharing a letter/email template which can be used to inform professionals about practice guidance for identifying and assessing a PDA profile.

It would be helpful if everyone could send this to their local autism assessment centres, clinical practitioners and autism teams so the guidance is distributed as widely as possible. You could also use the template to inform clinicians about the practice guidance when requesting a referral or support.

Double donation week is here!

Welcome to Day 6 of PDA Action Week. Our Big Give PDA community support campaign is live! Every pound donated towards our target this week will be doubled by match funding from the Big Give, helping more PDA people and their families access the support they need.

If you would like to make a donation, thank you! Please visit our campaign page before midday on Monday 22nd May 2023 and your donation will be doubled, making twice the impact! Thank you

Thank you

Thank you for all your support over the last few weeks, today may be the last day of PDA Action Week – but it’s far from the end of us coming together and taking action as a community to improve all of our lives.

It’s not too late to be a Team PDA champion – here are two things you can get done in a half hour or less today…
