National Autistic Society’s PDA Conference – Reading 12th October 2017
There was a full agenda and a packed conference hall at the National Autistic Society’s PDA conference in Reading yesterday. The main speakers at the conference were:
- Phil Christie: Phil is a Consultant Child Psychologist who now works on an independent basis and with colleagues as part of Autism Associates.
- Ruth Fidler: Ruth is an Education Consultant specialising in complex autism, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), interactive approaches and emotional well being.
- Julia Daunt: Julia was diagnosed with PDA by Professor Elizabeth Newson in Nottingham. This was a turning point for her, although the road to recovery from years of being mismanaged was very long and bumpy.
- Dr Judy Eaton: Judy is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist who now works independently. She spent nine years as part of an NHS Autism Assessment and Diagnostic team before spending four years as the Lead Psychologist at a tier four CAMHS inpatient unit. She then set up her independent practice, Help for Psychology, in 2015.
- Lorraine Dormand: Lorraine has worked with children with Autism for over thirty years across the age range in a variety of settings including working as a consultant, mainstream, and residential and day specialist provision.
- Becky Giles: Becky Giles is a SENDIASS Officer and mother of two girls from Telford. Becky’s interest in Special Educational Needs in general has grown since the birth of her eldest daughter Emily. Emily has various Special Educational Needs including pathological demand avoidance.
- Jody Buxton: Jody works within the learning disability forensic services and has remained in this field of nursing throughout the last 18 years of practice. Jody has experience working in assessment and treatment environments, rehabilitation and also high dependency care with males and females within inpatient settings.
- Lyndsie Barker: Lyndsie is a Forensic Psychologist in Training. She works as a Higher Assistant Psychologist within a medium secure autism unit.
- Jilly Davis: Jilly Davis is Assistant Head at The National Autistic Society’s Robert Ogden School and has a wealth of experience in working with children on the autism spectrum with pathological demand avoidance.
